In years gone by, wooden bulk boxes have been used by farmers for collection from the field of produce, ie: Potatoes, carrots, parsnips, Brassicas etc.
Due to the elements, wooden boxes get wet, hold moisture, and invite all sorts of problems with bacteria, tare weight, rotting, and generally becoming unsafe, where constant replacement is required.
In the early 80’s a replacement plastic bulk box was developed in Israel, and named the DOLAV. This became the acknowledged standard for a rigid one piece, light, yet heavy duty returnable container. The unit can safely be stacked up to six high, with a total load of 4 tonnes. Resistant to chemical corrosion, and ultra violet rays, the boxes are light enough for easy handling, and have anti slip stack location points, and easy to clean.
Since the launch of the DOLAV, European moulders have developed their own version, and the plastic bulk box is used in the Food, Automotive, Recycling, Fishing, Heavy Engineering, Warehousing & Distribution Industries.

Material: High molecular weight structural foam polyethylene.
Sizes available as standard:
1200 x 1000 x 760mm [ 600 litres ] weight 36 . 5 kgs
1200 x 800 x 760 mm [ 500 litres ] weight 31 . 5 kgs
Available: Solid or Perforated. Castors can be fitted for extra mobility, where pump trucks & fork lifts are not available. Rails fitted to the base for inverting, and emptying product, by rotating fork lift head. Other sizes can be achieved by ‘cut & shut ‘ process. Also available with drop doors for easy operator access.
Most primary colours available. Lids also available.
Temperature range: - 40 deg c to +85 deg c

European Bulk Box
A Slightly different take on the DOLAV, but in principal, does the same job. Material is Virgin MDPE, with no added agents.
Sizes available as standard:
1200 x 1000 x 760mm [ 670 litres ] weight 39 . 5 kgs
1200 x 800 x 760mm [535 litres ] weight 34 . 5 kgs
Available in, Grey, Blue & Green. Solid or perforated.
Can be supplied without tipping rails, on four feet, for full ground clearance, or with tipping rails. The design of the European box, is smooth, for easy cleaning, providing less dirt traps, internally the walls are slightly concave to offer great capacity, and strength. This type of box is designed with rounded rims & corners. Accessories include drop doors, castors, drain plugs, taps & card holders.
Temperature range: - 40 deg c to + 85 deg c.

European Super Box
This was designed for much needed greater capacity due to demand from farmers of France & Belgium when collecting produce from the fields, and straight to the Freezing Stations, where produce can be cleaned, frozen & stored, ready for packaging all in one super box.

Foldable Box Pallets
A recent variation of the one piece moulded box pallet. Manufactured in expanded PEHD or solid PP.
Standard sizes:
1200 x 1000 x 900mm [ 820 litres ] weight 62 kgs
1200 x 800 x 950mm [ 620 litres ] weight 57 kgs
Maximum load per container 500 kgs 4 high.
These are the complete returnable packaging system, used by most of the major multiple retailers for delivery of bulky, and heavy stock to store, also used for point of sale situations. This type of system offers many advantages and gives significant cost savings over one trip alternatives. Also increases safety in transportation and provides improved hygienic handling. When folded for storage or return transport it saves up to 60% of valuable space.
Can be supplied with access doors and differing pallet variations.

Hybox
An alternative to heavy duty foldable box pallets.
Available sizes:
1200 x 1000 x 960mm weight 24 kilos

Bearing power: Static: 1200 kgs Dynamic: 1200 kgs Racked: 1000 kgs
Designed with all plastic robust pallet body rim and lid components that fit perfectly into each other, and can easily be assembled. The body rim is kept on the pallet by means of a simple clip systems. The rim can be supplied with 1 or 2 door variations.
The HYBOX has been designed so that when not in use, they automatically interlock when stacked or when flat for storage the total height is only 238mm.
